TRAVEL

Participants should arrange to fly into Cape Town International Airport (CPT).  This is about 45min drive from the meeting venue in Stellenbosch.

There is no recommended public transport from the airport to Stellenbosch. Metered taxis and car rental services are available at the airport. Information on this service is available on the airport website.  A metered taxi will cost very approximately R550 for a one way trip.

Alternatively, visitors can book a shuttle service directly with one of the service providers noted below. This is our recommended method of travel and will cost approximately R450 for up to three people in one direction.  You should ask for an exact cost when you make the booking.

Lunch and Registration

Lunches will be provided at the venue, but must be paid for in advance. This will be organised as part of registration  and will be cheaper if it is done before 1 April 2016. Please note – Registration deadline is 15  April  2016.

VISA

A form required for visa applications, this information must accompany the application as well as an official letter of invitation.

Information required for an invitation letter:

– name and surname as per your Passport,
– passport number
– expiration date
– duration of stay
– Your institutions name and address

The following link provides a list of countries whose citizens are exempt from pre-arrival visas for entry into South Africa. Passport holder from these countries will be issued with entry visas, valid for a period of 30 days, at their port of entry, but it is ESSENTIAL that they have two (2) blank pages in their passport to accept this visa.

South African electricity

  • The South African electricity supply is 220/230 volts AC 50 HZ.
  • Most plugs are 15 amp 3-prong (round, i.e. NOT like UK standard) or (less commonly) 5 amp 2-prong, with round pins (similar to the European standard).
  • Adapters can be purchased locally.
  • US-made appliances may need a transformer.
