Special Focus Sessions: Interoperability of data from major astronomy projects
On Tuesday and Wednesday morning there will be special plenary sessions on the following topics:
- The identification of use cases and requirements of major astronomy projects for interoperability of their data
- Discussion of VO technologies in the priority areas of multi-dimensional and time domain data
- What practical measures can be undertaken to facilitate the use of IVOA standards, and to ensure their relevance to major astronomy projects
- Fostering major astronomy projects to become ‘participants’ rather than ‘customers’ of the VO
The Focus Sessions are comprised of invited presentations from following major projects and time will be allocated in the splinter sessions with the Working Groups to identify specific use cases and requirements-
- David Ciardi – The Large Synoptic Survey Telescope (LSST)
- Russ Taylor – Karoo Array Telescope (MeerKAT) and Square Kilometre Array (SKA)
-
Mark Allen, Mathieu Servillat, Giuseppe Greco – Astronomy ESFRI & Research Infrastructure Cluster (ASTERICS) projects(these include the Cherenkov Telescope Array (CTA), European Extremely Large Telescope (E-ELT), Square Kilometre Array (SKA), Cubic Kilometre Neutrino Telescope (KM3-NET), European Gravitational Observatory (EGO/VIRGO), Low-Frequency Array for Radio astronomy (LOFAR))
-
Ming Zhu – Five hundred meter Aperture Spherical Telescope (FAST)
-
Jessica Chapman – Australian Square Kilometre Array Pathfinder (ASKAP)
-
Bruno Merin – Euclid and Gaia spacecraft
-
Tom Donaldson – James Webb Space Telescope
